Ecosmart has been retailing electricity throughout New Zealand and installing solar for nearly 10 years. We have sold electricity since January 2017, and installed solar from the Karikari Peninsula to Christchurch.

What we do

Two things, one company

Wholesale electricity

We specialise in the wholesale electricity market. We pass the half-hourly spot price straight through to you, with no markup on it. On top sit network losses, lines and transmission charges, metering, levies, our fee and GST.

You pay the spot price for the power you use, and earn it for the power you export. The spot price changes every half hour. We don't cap it, and it can spike with little or no warning, so it suits some homes and businesses and not others.

Spot-price plans are the only way we have ever sold electricity.

Solar and batteries

We have installed solar systems for homes and businesses from the Karikari Peninsula to Christchurch, and we install home batteries too.

We do the installing ourselves. If a job needs a subcontractor, we stay responsible for their work.

Exports earn the half-hourly spot price, uncapped.
